One Man's Trash is a 3 Year Old's Treasure!

We have new neighbors that moved in over the summer...they've been cleaning out & throwing out...their boys are 4 & 5 and have outgrown some of their toys. So, on the way to taking the boys to piano Tuesday, Caleigh spotted this beauty of a trike on the top of their trash pile. Now, I like a good deal & all, but just for the record, this is the only time I've taken something out of someone's trash! LOL! And, I did go up to their door & let them know ;) She LOVES it & she can reach the pedals and drives it really well. So well, she's been running circles around the island in the kitchen & driving it all over the house. These pics are from yesterday, but she rode it again off & on today too. One man's trash...well, you know the rest!

I really couldn't think of a clever title post today...so It's Wednesday it is....

FYI for Julie....Mirror Image Twins can be Identical or Fraternal. The boys are Identical according to the Pediatrician's best guess...we've not done a DNA comparison/Zygosity Testing which is the only true way to tell....maybe someday...

Blake finished Flat Stanley yesterday. I just love how excited he is when he finishes reading a book to me. Bryce has always been a strong reader & it just hasn't come so easily for Blake. He's catching on quickly now & I'm so pleased with his progress!!! It just makes me happy that he realizes & enjoys his hard work paying off! He loves to read anything funny or a mystery.

So...I didn't win the Mother of the Year Award yesterday either ladies...as I let my littlest munchkin eat her snack in the big people room on a TV tray while watching Blues Clues so I could get in a good Math Lesson with B & B. Well, it just had to happen is all I can say about that!

Today is C.O.L.D. In East Texas terms anyway. We've been hunkered down in school-work today. Just finished & now a break before a run to the pharmacy & Tae Kwon Do. The Daddy is getting in late...meeting out of town, so I call "Pizza Night"!

Well, the snow has almost melted away. There was still some left on the ground this morning, but Mr. Sun came out today. Actually, the snow was great fun, but I am happy to see the sun again. It's back to life...regularly scheduled programming, etc. The light was pretty coming through the kitchen window today. And, yes, my twins are right handed/left handed...right brained/left brained....it makes for interesting days I'll tell 'ya!

We took the morning off of school for Snow Day #2. The boys are just now finishing up their work, but it was totally worth it! Tomorrow is our busy day! School-work, Piano, lunch, finish school -work then Tae Kwon Do. Hmmmm....maybe it will be a 'dinner in the crock pot' day!

What a beautiful day we had!

The First Peanut Butter....

....received grand reviews!

She's never really wanted to try peanut butter before. I've made her sandwiches when the boys have requested PB & J, but she's always pushed them away. Well, yesterday we made pinecone birdfeeders & she had her hands all in that peanut butter! I guess she decided it wasn't too bad as more peanut butter made it in her mouth than on the pinecone! Yesterday evening, she requested peanut butter bread for her snack....it was greatly enjoyed. Hooray! Another lunch option!

Yesterday was a Favorite.

I have these days...the favorites...I guess every mom does. The days where everything goes smoothly. School work is done, everyone is in a good mood, no kiddos are fussing, the weather is beautiful, sun is shining, and there are no errands to be done. Yesterday was one. It was wonderful. Temps in the 60's, sun out, kids out & playing. Caleigh & I made some more bird feeders & hung them from the tree out back...you know, the messy peanut butter & seed ones? I think she ate more peanut butter than made it on the pinecones. We finally came in around 3:00 and she crashed on the couch watching Blues Clues. A Nap. It's rare these days. Dinner, Hide & Seek, a movie then off to bed. We didn't leave the house. I'm grateful for days like this! They get me through all the others! ;)

....and 16 1/2 years later....

The site of our wedding...16 1/2 years later....this is outside of Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview, Texas. We went by the day after Christmas on the way to my Mom & Dad's House. I had a much more inexpensive photographer than on our wedding day! 10 year olds are pretty handy to have around! :)

Our Newest Game Addiction

Santa brought us JENGA! for Christmas. I must say, I love it! It's lots of fun & a good strategy game too...so, we've gone from UNO Attack to JENGA! It's our newest game addiction! What's yours???

I Never Get Tired of This:

Blake finished his chapter book...he always gets so excited when he finishes reading a book aloud to me. I never get tired of his pride when he's done...he never thought he'd be able to read an entire chapter book by himself and now he does it all the time. We read a book a week. That's pretty awesome considering a year ago he was still struggling to sound out many words. Any books/series on an early 4th grade reading level that you would recommend? We like the Bailey School Kids, Magic Tree House, The Boxcar Children and Flat Stanley.

290 Out of 365...Not too bad!

Well, I failed the 365 Challenge for 2010, but I don't think I did tooooo bad: 290 Out of 365. With 3 kids, 2 dogs, a husband & homeschooling tied in...I'll take it! It was really fun to do & I will be printing my 2010 Blog. I'm sure in 20 years I'll be really glad I made the effort. This year...um, no! Maybe once a week...I might commit to that! One of my New Year's Resolutions is to spend less time on the computer, so to honor that....I'm off the blog bandwagon this year. Kuddos to all of you that are up to the challenge! I'll be using some of my computer time to check your blogs! ;)
